1.
The flow of gardening. When working in the garden there are a variety of tasks, sometimes
you are doing backbreaking work, and others you are pulling weed by weed at
your own pace.
2.
Connection to where I live.
Having a successful garden requires you to tune into where you
live. Knowing your climate, soil, drainage, how much rain you will get (or not
get) that year, where the sun shines most, and so on brings greater appreciation
for how God designed where we live.
3.
Old fashioned hard work. I love getting in there and getting my hands dirty. I find so much
satisfaction when I take a step back and see what my hands created. From
digging trenches, building compost bins, trellises, and raised beds, it's been
a good day when you’re covered with dirt and sweat and are ready to put your
feet up.

Eating healthy. When growing a garden you most likely have vegetables which have
come to you much cheaper than buying them from the store. Also, when you have
worked for the produce it does taste much better!
5.
Bridges the gap of where my
food comes from. Having grown up in a
community with 10 grocery stores within 2 miles of my house created a convenience
that meant there are few days we didn’t visit the store. Growing my own
vegetable garden gives me more of a connection to the food I eat and the
nutrients it has for me.
6.
Love of being out side. Last summer I was working in a cubicle full time; I enjoyed what I
was doing and my co-workers but it was then and there I realized I would do all
that I could to not return to working full time in a cubicle! This summer my
time is split 3 ways (in The Garden, at the office and as a student) and I am
really enjoying the balance of office work and outside work.
Your garden is incredible! I am completely inspired by your previous posts! Oh how I wish I had that much space to grow! Loved your top 6 here! I couldn't agree more with you on connecting to the land and knowing where your food comes from! Happy day and I look forward to journeying along with you! Nicole xo
